Shop in Heaven's Grocery Story
Submitted by Richard Zehr
May 2011

I was walking down life's highway a long time ago, one day I saw a sign that read heaven's grocery store. As I got a little closer, the door came open wide, and when I came to myself, I was standing inside. I saw a host of angels; they were standing everywhere. And one angel said, "My child, shop with care." Everything a Christian needed was in that grocery store, and all you couldn't carry you could come back the next day for more.

First, I got some patience; love was in the same row. Further down was understanding; you need that everywhere you go. I got a box or two of wisdom, a bag or two of faith. I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost for he was all over the place. I stopped to get some strength and courage to help me run the race. By then my basket was getting full, but I remembered I needed some grace. I didn't forget salvation, for salvation, that was free. So, I tried to get enough of that to save you and me.

Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill, for I thought I had everything to do my master's will. As I went up the aisle, I saw prayer and just had to put that in. For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin. Peace and joy were plentiful; they were on the last shelf. Song and praises were hanging near so I just helped myself. The, I said, "Now how much do I owe?" He just smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go." "How much do I really owe?" He smiled and said, "My child, Jesus paid your bill a long time ago."

FOCUS ON SUNDAY SCHOOL

This year we have a new curriculum - "Live B.I.G." - the "B.I.G." stands for "Belief in God!"  Joanne Reed and Elizabeth Smith are the teachers and Alicia Young is the assistant.  The Sunday School program for agesthree through teens is being run as a one-room schoolhouse.  Everyone is learning more including the teachers, and so are the parents who often stay to participate with their children.

The weekly lessons are divided into three sections:  "Invite Them In", "Into the Bible", and "Into Life".  The program engages students through Bible stories, games, art activities, music, and an exciting D.V.D. The children meet Luke, Noah, Lisa, Sperry, Anna, and Armond at "The Station" via the D.V.D.  "The Station" teaches our children how to confront real life problems and find solutions from believing in God.

"Live B.I.G." is making a BIG impact on Stone Presbyterian Church.  We encourage those of you who are not involved to come and bring your children.  As an adult, you can choose to stay and participate with us, or attend the Adult Bible Class taught by William O'Connor.  Currently, they are studying "God's Living Covenant".  If you have adolescent children, who are ready to join the Church, there is a Confirmation Class taught by Reverend Smith.  All classes meet at 9:30 a.m.

9:30 - Sunday School; 10:45 - Worship.   Family Time Begins with Sunday School and Church Every Sunday!  Join Us!

Our Sunday School Kick-Off on September 10th was a huge success! Youngsters were introduced to our new curriculum while enjoying tasty treats and a special visit from "Bubbles The Clown!"
